Wrinkles

Wrinkles are certainly not the lines one is born with. In this world, nothing is permanent, so is our youth. With time, our body ages and starts showing its symptoms. Increased muscle activity and exposure to the sun and wind can cause these undesirable lines, which eventually become permanent features of ourselves whether we like it or not. Wrinkles on the face ring an alarm that it is time to go to a plastic and cosmetic surgeon who is capable of reversing the clock and is well-trained to enhance one's face value and confidence.

Causes

  • Frequent exposure of skin to the sun or sun damaged skin.
  • Ageing :- The body loses collagen, which gives the skin elasticity and support.
  • Smoking tobacco products.
  • Environmental factors and pollutants.

Where Do Wrinkles Appear?

Wrinkles can appear anywhere on your body but the most commonly affected parts for which you have concern are -

  • Forehead lines.
  • Frown lines.
  • Crow’s feet.
  • Bunny lines.

Does Makeup Cause Wrinkles?

If you frequently apply makeup and do not remove it before going to bed, it can accelerate wrinkles. The makeup clogs the pores and restricts the skin to produce collagen proteins which will cause premature aging and hence cause wrinkles.

Treatment

  • Skin Resurfacing Techniques - Dermabrasion-scraping layers of skin and Chemical Peel-Removing layers of skin by chemicals.
  • Laser Treatment of Skin
  • Derma fillers and botox® - They are the most popular wrinkle reduction treatment.

Botox

Botox® is a rejuvenation technique that can relax the specific facial muscles that cause upper facial lines (Crow’s feet, forehead, and frown lines).

Procedure

It is a simple OPD procedure that relaxes selected facial muscles to smoothen lines and wrinkles on the face. It is a non-surgical procedure involving the administration of a small amount of Botox® using an extremely fine needle. It takes around 15-30 minutes. Almost no discomfort is caused, and one can carry on with the rest of the day soon after. It takes 4-7 days to see the effect. The effect can last up to 4 months. Botox® treatment is required from time to time to avoid the reappearance of wrinkles.

Filler

  • A non-surgical treatment to correct facial lines, scarring, or depression to restore a more youthful appearance.
  • Fill the hollowed areas to restore a more youthful appearance.
  • Smoothen out laugh lines or creases.
  • Plump up the lips that have lost volume as a result of aging or are considered thin and unattractive.
  • Correction of facial scars to improve appearance.
  • Presently used filler materials are effective in long-term correction.

Side Effects

Some of the most common temporary side effects of wrinkle treatment include:

  • Allergic reaction to the medicine.
  • Redness, itching, burning, or swelling at the site of the injection.
  • Pain.
  • Bruising.

Note:- Today's market is flooded with anti-wrinkle creams. Most people fail to understand that it works superficially on the skin. Wrinkles can only be removed if the applied solution either works on contracted muscles that cause wrinkles or expands the skin increasing the volume of skin.
