Hair Restoration

In our stressful life baldness appears at a very young age, especially in the male. This could be limited to a reduction in frontal line or complete frontal and vertical baldness (male pattern baldness).

Techniques of Hair Restoration

  • Follicular Unit Transplantation(FUT) / Strip method
  • In this technique, a strip of hair (depending on the number of hairs required and the laxity of the skin) is removed from the posterior part of the scalp. The donor area is stitched back using fine sutures so that the scar line (fine line) is covered by the rest of the hair and not visible at all. Now the individual hair follicles are dissected out and transplanted in the bald area considering the direction of hairs in the anterior and posterior parts. This is the most reliable and time-tested procedure.

  • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
  • In this technique point, a 0.8mm to 1mm punch is used to harvest the individual hair follicles from the posterior permanent hair region. This is harvested in such a way leaving hair follicles in between two donor areas so that baldness does not appear in donor areas. Punch harvesting is a relatively blind procedure. So some roots may damage during harvesting.

Transplantation is the same in both techniques. Hair transplantation is the day care procedure done under local anaesthesia and sedation.

After The Procedure

Patients do not require any dressing after the procedure and can do his/her daily routine. He can shampoo the hair after 3 days. Hairs may fall initially and regrow gradually to full growth which may take 6-9 months.
